Nathan Zapolsky, MD, FACEP Selected for the 2023 CORD Residency Administration Fellowship

We are excited to announce that Nathan Zapolsky, MD, FACEP was selected this year for the competitive 2023 CORD Residency Administration Fellowship!

The Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine sponsors the Residency Administration Fellowship (RAF). This year-long course combines in-person and asynchronous experiences for faculty to learn more about the nuts and bolts of program leadership. Topics include designing a new residency program, residency program finance, legal issues, responding to AFIs and other interactions with the ACGME, leadership, and working with teams. The goal of the program is to provide in-depth education on the administrative, legal, and accreditation aspects of running an Emergency Medicine residency program. 

Dr. Zapolsky is the Assistant Medical Director and Trauma Liaison at Maimonides, and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine with academic appointments at Hofstra Northwell, Mount Sinai, and the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. Dr. Zapolsky is a former Assistant Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency at Maimo and former ED Director of Simulation at Staten Island University Hospital. He majored in Philosophy, Ethics and Public Policy from George Washington University, earned his MD from University of Wisconsin, and completed residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. His primary clinical, simulation, and research concentrations have been on integrating residency education and ED operations, with a focus on post cardiac arrest medicine and ethics, physician finance, and reproductive health justice.
